Eligibility for CDPAP payments

“Am I eligible to be a paid caregiver?”

If you are:

  • 18 years or older
  • Legally allowed to work in the United States
  • Capable of providing care for another

Then you are a candidate.

"How much does CDPAP pay?"

The Freedom Care CDPAP pay rate is $11-$13 per hour and $16.50-$19.50 per overtime hour. The exact hourly rate depends on your location in New York.

"How many hours will I be able to work?"

You can work a maximum of 60 hours per week. The exact number will depend on

  • Insurance approval.This is based on a nurse’s assessment of the patient.
  • Patient preference. The patient can choose to hire you for all the approved hours, or just a portion.
"How will I track my hours?"

Freedom Care CDPAP caregivers can clock in and out on their phones—it’s fast and simple. So you can manage your timesheet wherever you are.

“How will I get paid?”

CDPAP caregivers get direct deposits into their bank account. If you don’t have a bank account, you’ll get paid via free pay card or check.

“How often will I get paid?”

You’ll get paid every other Friday—guaranteed. Our caregivers appreciate that their payments come in like clockwork; no exceptions.

“What if there’s a mistake with my payment?”

That’s why our 40+ dedicated staff members are here. Our average phone wait time is 7 seconds, so if you ever have a problem, just pick up the phone—you can expect a helpful, professional resolution immediately.

“What happens if I’m sick and can’t work?”

No worries. You’ll get lots of great benefits: sick days, regular pay, direct deposit, overtime, family leave pay, and disability. And in many NY locations, caregivers are eligible for a free health benefits package.

“My mother needs care. Can I be her caregiver?”

Yes. Children can serve as caregivers for parents.

“My husband needs care. Can I be his caregiver?”

No. Legally married spouses cannot be caregivers for each other.

“My son needs care. Can I be his caregiver?”

Only if he is over 21 years of age. Parents cannot be caregivers for children under 21.

“I live together with my grandmother. Can I be her caregiver?”

Yes. You can live in the same residence as the patient.
